My slave/master on my M6 need to be replaced ('99 Formula), and may as well do the clutch at the same time. Anyone know of a good shop near Austin to have this done? I'd like to have it done by someone who knows the LS1 hydraulics...

something else to think about is upgrading to the '01-'02 clutch hydraulics, unless you've already done that in the past... another shop that can help is American Racing Tech... they're in Buda, just south of Austin, and at least two of the guys there are very familiar with f-body clutches.

another thought is to do it yourself... there's no shortage of people that'd be willing to help and its a good learning experience, too.

I'm definitely upgrading to the '01/'02 hydraulics + drill mod, with probably a Z06 clutch (pretty much stock). Doing the clutch myself doesn't worry me too much, but getting the hydraulics bled properly does; too many horror stories of bleeding problems, engagement issues, etc on the M6 forums. Since it's my DD I can't keep my car down for long.

I'll give the shops a call and see if they'll install customer-purchased parts. if not I might buy the stuff anyway and take SilverTurtle's advice...

I know for a fact that ART will install customer purchased parts, dont know about the other shops... if you decide to do this yourself, and you're in the Austin area, let me know and I'll come over and coach you on the install and do the bleed for you... if I can get it right with my '02 and a Spec Stage4, I pretty sure I can get it right on a Z06 clutch

well i live in laredo,tx....i few months back my throwout bearing went out so i replaced it for $150 for the slave cylinder and the new throwout bearing...and the labor for about $150 here in laredo from a friend who works on nothing but f-bodys....well a few months later it turns out that my clutch went out and i went with a z06 clutch and pressure plate for $200 bucks new from a friend, and then a local speed shop named MSP(Modern Street Performance) did my clutch swap for $150 as well, so all in all i spent...$650 on everything...i prolly would've saved $100 if i would've done it all at the same time but i didnt have the cash....i also would've saved all the money if i had the time and an actual driveway to work on my car in....oh and i put a new pilot bearing as well
