Default downpipe ?s

on the driver side log style kits(TTI street kits and ls1 speeds like raymer was selling) was there ever any tests done as far as downpipes from 2.5-3.5" on med to large turbos?
any power loss,or negligible power gains?

the biggest you can get through there is a 3"
it helps switching, i did a bunch of other changes when i switched to a bigger one so i dont have a direct comparison
