Default I need help ASAP!!

Me & my buddy were out cruising around last nite sippin' a few beers and was rolling thru a parking lot when he told me to smoke my tires (dumbass idea) well when I started there was a lot of wheel hop and when I let off the break I heard something snap. Now whenever I turn a corner and give a little bit of acceleration there is a awful sound coming from under my truck. Kinda like a pop with a little bit of slipage feeling in the rear-end. I told my boss this morning and he seems to think it is the U-joints, my brother said it sounded more like the rea-end to him. What do ya'll think? 2000 5.3l with 3.42 open diff. I really need to know asap. Thanks!!

I'd say you broke or chipped some teeth on the gears inside the rear-end. You won't know until you have someone tear into it. Bob

Spider gears are a common problem on the newer GM trucks. The new process doesn't seem to hold up to well to abuse. I would check Ebay and see if you can get a good deal on a new set of spider gears for your 8.6 axle.
