Good stuff! I'm not too keen on them making the powerplant Displacement on Demand though.

Before we slam the Displacement on Demand, we had better see how it works. I like the idea of 30mpg w/ 400hp. (Dont quote me, but I think thats what this concept is rated at getting)

There is conflicting information about HP ratings.. That Road and track video said the car had 400 hp at the wheels, which it does not. It has the standard 6.0 LS2 with the addition of DOD as of now. I highly doubt that is the engine that will be in it when it comes to production, or at least i hope there is an option SS package for the LS7 type engine.

I highly doubt the new V8 camaro will have rated horsepower that is higher than a base Corvette. Hmmmm......I wonder what the base vette will have in 2008?

That rear quarter panel is one fine mofo!

IMO GM should put a switch for 4 clylinder or 8 cylinder, rather than having the computer decide. I want a V8 exhaust note even when cruising...

Just returned from Detroit - what an awesome weekend we were given by GM to celebrate and support the Camaro concept. I touched the car ( Sorry Scott!!) and can tell you that the pictures do not do this thing justice. It is up to us to get the pressure on GM to build this thing in a hurry. It is awe inspiring!

I spoke with some engineers while at the Heritage center dinner on Sunday night - let's just say the LS3 is on the way...and that the IRS rear is a huge focal point on the concept and the upcoming RWD platforms. Hell, even the V6's that this guy was touting as motors for the Camaro are deadly impressive ( 300 + HP!! ) So do us all a favor - do all that you can do to make this thing a reality. It is stunning. I will try to download photos tomorrow when I am at the office, although the stuff on the GMtv site is as good or better than mine.

Great news! Thanks! Awaiting Pics! I am trying to make my own page to post up all the pics i've gotten from like 8 sites, so they're all in one place. Having troubles with my web server I think.... Should work, but doesnt.... I will make a new thread for posting pics of the Camaro Concept, with a link to all my pics.

So much information. I love it all. V6's pushing 300 hp! WOW! It's like how the weakest latter 4th gen motor was more powerful then the most powerful early 3rd gen motor. Seems it is still going that way. What kind of displacement do those V6's have?

That's not a bad idea! Sorta like the ASR bypass switch.

DOD :( that sounds like it's goin to be expensive to fix/upgrade....

We really cant blame GM for making DOD. They're being forced to make more efficient vehicles from Government pressures. If we want V8 cars like this, they're gonna have to make exeptions somewhere along the line, and this really is something that has to be done I think.

It would be nice to see a switch on it like ASR. If GM is not pressured to make these so fuel efficient maybe even offer it in NON-DOD! Have it be an option! Some would go for it.

As for the SS=Strip car... Totally awesome idea! And the Z28 being a more casual cruising car, but still pack some mean street terror. Good thoughts fellaz!

that car is fugly redo the front end and it might look alot better IMO, the DOD hopefully would have a off / on like the asr, if not maybe you smart guys will come up with a free mod to turn it off  as said earlier, i want the v8 sound all the time, and would the DOD have a delay, like when you punch an auto car ?

RaRe99SS is right...Make the SS a stripped out version with enough power to be faster then everything but the latest and greatest vette (zo6, ss, blue devil, or what ever they will call it) Think about it Vette beating ferrari's and vipers, and the camaro romping on charger, challanger, mustang, m3, and what ever else is in there class. Please GM!! give me a 11 sec camaro from the factory!!!!

Dod will most likely be accessable in the PCM. ;)

DOD works like this=In the valley, there are oil pressure operated solenoids that can cut off oil to the lifters, pumping them down, and I believe it cuts off fuel to those particular cylinders, thus deactivating 4 cylinders. Dodge is already using it,gm trucks should have it very soon. It is said to be not even noticeable, probably tied into tps and vacuum to determine engine load,so when you stomp it, all 8 instantly go.I read about this like a 1.5 years ago, sorry I don't have exact info, but that is basically how it works

If it is electric and computer controlled, then it can be turned off like skip shift. So those who dont want it can get rid of it.

Here are the shots from the launch. And yes, DOD is completely inperceptable. Just punch it and she will go. My C5 already gets in the 30's without the DOD, so what is the purpose of having it? For the comments about the nose - I am telling you - these pictures do not do the car justice...it is so bad a**. Scott Settlemire and the team - you are my heroes!

This is going to open a can of worms...but if you send me an e-mail at toesuf94@msn.com I will send you the press kit photos. The forum will not let me download them. If somebody from LS1 tech can do it and post them so I do not end up with 60,000 e-mails, that would be great.

Now, let's get this thing built! Write anyone you know and lets push them to build this.

If there are any more pics that should be added to my pic site, email them to me. Its nice to go to just 1 site to see all the different pics, instead of 10 or so.
