Default 4 Cam choices for 408 "Which one"?

Friday will be the day I order cam for my 408.Its ready to go,just need cam.I already installed afr205s,fast 90/90,HLT,TNT 150. I want to drop it in by next thursday,so I need to order as soon as possible. My car is a A4 with 3500.I narrow it down to FOUR "Magic stick 237/242,Texas Giant,CC 244/248,G5X4.
What will the diffrence be if I get the custom grind on a 110 vs 114,115.Will power differ, idle or how soon the power comes in.I dont want to spin past 6500rpm or 6800-7000 on the juice. What will it be?,any experience users chime in,ThANKS GUYS!!!!!! REMEMBER DAILY DRIVER,OCCASIONALY OUT OF TOWN

How much spray will you be using? A 110 lsa is going to have a much rougher idle and hp will peak out faster than say a 114 lsa or 115 lsa. I would go with the MS3 237/242 .603 .609 with a 113lsa its got a mean idle and loves spray. I have the MS3 and i usually shift at about 6700rpms with a 150 shot.

i would go much larger than the cams you've mentioned, as the 408 cid will eat up a small cam. try the texas speed giant...on their website. something similar in size to that. on a 114 lsa...

Texas giant is 248/254 isnt that, tad to big for a 408 daily driver? It will probably make good power, but what about the lowend, will it suffer?

Big cubes=loads of torque, LOL you would have problems keeping from spinning at every take off. Need big meats and good weight transfer to minimise.

The Texas Giant 248/254 camshaft should work really well in that 408. We've installed it many times & I've always been really happy with how it made power & daily drives. I have a dyno sheet of a ls2 402 with the texas giant in the 408 section of our new site 520rwhp with a ls6 intake & 11:1 compression!

Are you saying that a 114 will make more power on the top or have a broader power band?

Since you have an A4 w/ a 3500 stall and mainly a daily driver, I would go with the 244/248 cam you listed and look at 110 ICL/ 113 LSA.

Bigger strokers do not require higher stall to benefit from bigger cams. Too much trq down low, so low band can be used early.

I would do a 6 degree split, call Jason @ TSP and tell him to get you a 244/250 XER 111 + 2. She will make the power.

I've got a 244/248 in my 408 and I'd go bigger now for sure. 260+ duration is probably what a 408 really needs.

I put a 244 248 612 615 113lsa in my 408 to go with the spray. I wanted mine to drive smooth for the wife and still have some power. Remember we are a A4. I went really big in my 346, loved the power. But driving daily sucked. Most of my friends didn`t mind it, but after you drive it all the time with kids in the car I didn`t like the issues. All I did to make up the little power I might loose is bump the spray up. I`m going with a 200 shot. I`m also getting ET 245 heads. They are really going to make some power! I have all the bolt-ons etc in my sig going with it. Should make all the power I need!
