Plans and questions
I plan on haveing my car set up as a good sunday driver. I dont want it to be a joke though. It currently runs on a avg day 14.0 just intake and exaust. My plan is for a forged 383 short block and a le2 head and cam package. I see claims of 430hp on stock block with that package so i dont think it should be bad to expect 450-460 from a 383. Of course thats not all i plan of suspension bmr springs bilstiens and all the other odd and ends bmr k member included. My main question has to do with the rear and trans. I currently have a 4L60 on a fresh rebuild with added power in mind also has trans go shift kit. With that kinda power would a high stall make a big difference of am i throwing money out the window. Same for the rear i have a 2.73 gear 10 bolt i dont think a auto 2.73 car is gonna break the rear. I dont really plan on slicks. But i hear gears dont make that much of a difference once your are going so fast. I hope for 11.80 on motor full weight with the 383 with stock stall gears. But from what im told a 3500rpm stall and 3.73's will net me .2-.4 in the quarter. To me thats a waste since 90% of the time im on street tires and cant hook up anyway. Is this correct??

A 10 bolt is not so week especially if it's on an auto equiped car, I've seen cars regularly hitting low 11s with a regeared stock rear and a stalled and built 4L60E tranny.

Sounds good thats what i figured. I see most of the problems come from the gears themself. So if i stay 2.73 i should have no problem. I think if i went 3.73 i might hurt something.
