Default QTP cutouts..............

I'm about to get H/C (TEA stage 2 & Comp cam around 220-224 )and have just ordered cutouts .Will one just after the y-pipe increase the air flow enough or do I need to put both in a little past the headers? I'm also interested in the way both setups sound. Thanks

1 in the I pipe in "the niche" is all you need for flow and sound.

I've had both, 1 in the I pipe and 2 in the ORY.

2 in the ORY are very mean, but you lose a lot of ground clearance. Not worth it IMO.

1 in the I still sounds mean and will outflow your muffler, and there's some scavenging done in the Y-merge that's beneficial. Plus you have no cats, so there's no restriction.

I agree just put one in the I-pipe...that's all i have and it works best because of the scavengaging done in the y merge as stated above

will the qpt cut out fit over a cat back or just butt up to it and weld it?

The cutout replaces about a 1' segment in your exhaust pipe, anywhere you want to put it.

On a 3" catback, the 3" cutout would butt-weld. On a stock I-pipe, it would slip over the 2.75" I-pipe for a slip connection which would then be welded.

I have just one behind my Y, sounds mean as hell too, I leave it closed until a ricer pisses off his bumble bee then I open it and let him have it. lol
