Default rear end fluid like syrup?

its friggin nasty. figured id check it while i was changing the oil and it was like syrup on my finger. the rears been howling like a wolf for sometime now. do u think a fluid change will help at all or if its worth it? hell maybe its holding this 10 bolt together! lol. the 12 bolt is still about 3-4 months away prob so i need a ride between now and then.

Gear oil is a lot thicker than engine oil so it's not really surprising that it seems syrupy. Changing the fluid probably won't help too much as it sounds like a bearing has gone bad.
