Default Driveshaft Question, is this even part of it?

Ok I have a 98 Z w/ the stock aluminum driveshaft, i just pulled it w/ the tranny. From where the driveshaft would connect to the pinion, As the d/s was out, there was a thin narrow metal plate that came out, reachec completely across the connection @ the U-joint. Did this come out of there? is there something utilized back there to make sure it doesnt pivot too much? If anybody has a close up picture this might help. I haven't seen or noticed this when taking it out, it fell out when i pushed it aside while next to the car.

The stock u joints have a thin metal strip that holds the two cups together on the part that slides up in the yoke on the pinion thats probably what fell out its not needed but keeps the cups from falling of the u joint and needle bearings going every where!
