I decided to smooth them out just enough to paint them red. Than the brackets will get chrome plated in a couple weeks when the car is in getting painted.

It was very easy, just used the 60 grit sanding wheel and the Dremel, took about 15-20 minutes to get the casting lines off. Then I used the mini wire brush to do the rest of the surface area of the calipers. Then 220 grit for about 15 minutes each. They're friggin very smooth. Just did the fronts, took a few hours taking my time.

Well, I just need them smooth to paint them, so I didn't go nuts on them. I'm pretty sure they're smooth enough for painting. I can't feel any bumps or anything as I wipe my fingers over the calipers. Feels like glass.

Do I need to primer them before I paint them?

i just bought a can of caliper paint from the local autozone hell i didnt even sand them lol. wiped them off real quick like, but they are just fine. make sure you get heat resistent paint im sure you knew though.

Why do you think I need new rotors?

Actually I'd like to get some big brakes on the car all around, but I just like the look of CD and slotted.

Do you not see the cracks forming arond where the rotors where drilled. They are stress cracks that will keep getting bigger and bigger. That is not good at all. The rotors need to be replaced.

yes, the rotors can actualy come appart.

slotted rotors are all you need, and if you want the crossdrilled look i got EBC brakes that are slotted and dimpled

I see the stress cracks. But what concerns me is the slots and hole patterns face forward. I'm thinking the rotors are swapped side for side.

I was thinking of going this route: I think a polished caliper and a chrome plated bracket might be too much BLING. And I don't think a painted bracket looks that good.

im pretty sure that picture is correct, but seriously man, your rotors.....they have issues. id definatly think about replacing them

I've seen pics of rotors that were the other way, do you think they work both ways

I contacted Baer and told them that my 13,000 mile rotors are cracking. We'll see what they say.

Are my cracks really bad, should I park it? Only the outer perimeter holes have cracks, none of the other rows do.

I just got thru polishing my calipers and I just painted my bracket black, it looks really nice behind my c6 wheels. I suggest everyone else paint theirs that way my car looks better.

Hello Lyle,
Over time cracks will form on the rotor surface. The majority of the time they
start any break in the rotor surface and usually start at the drilled holes.
This is normal. As the rotor heats and cools, the stresses in the rotor material
will be released in the form of cracks. This does not harm the integrity of the
rotor and is safe. The only time you should be concerned is if the crack goes
all the way through the rotor or can be felt in the brake pedal. Our Eradispeed
rotors come with a limited lifetime warranty against warping.

Almost the same thing i did to my calipers. I Polished the front face, then just thoroughly cleaned the top and cooling fins. I didn't touch the adjusters though. I used Dupli-Color high heat ceramic paint. Primer-color-clearcoat. They shine just as much as the car, and still look perfect, after two years.
