just to help out the vette guys on the exhaust, i took my vette down to the local muffler shop and had them replace the resanator with a magnaflow x-pipe, and sum magnaflow mufflers very quite, almost no difference. went down and got custom 3"inch cutouts after the x-pipe..... sounds awesome, now there is some speculation on wether or not that my years cats are restrictive and im hear to say HELL YA, they are clogging up my sound bad and i know a friend who took them off and gained 12.5 hp to the wheels, well just some info and to let yall know i have long tubes in the mail, and when i get them installed no cats are going back on ill keep ya updated..

I gutted the cats on Docspeeds car about 2 years ago. It did make it just a little louder. Last weekend he did the same thing you did and got rid of his resonator on his. Sounded much throatier.
