Default ? about Headers (Long tubes for the Goat)

Headers (long tubes coming)
with my tax return money:
I will be installing my cam
226/226 591/591 on 112 lsa
(along with new rods and valve springs)
since it will need a tune,
I might as well do my headers too.

any help in the area will be apreciated.

I want to keep my vehicle "emissions legal"
and don't want to deal with the CEL (check engine light) ect...

does anyone have any opinion on what headers I should be looking at (or what I should avoid)

hey guys, let me know why you picked what you picked.

I picked "other" so I wouldn't have to keep hitting "View results"

thanks guys

I am personally leaning towards a set of Kooks in the future. From the reports I've read on those who have installed them, they are one of the few makers that get it right from the box. Little or no hacking/grinding needed to get everything in place. I've got SW catbacks, but after the work required to put those in I'd be afraid of going with them again.(just MPO)

Then again, the LS2 version may be different.

Doesn't QTP make headers for Goats ? I was surprised they weren't listed as an option. Very few headers are in the same league, although I know Kooks are right up there. BTW I chose other

Put down the SLP's and step away from the crap. For the same or better price, you can get MUCH nicer stuff.

I voted Kooks as they are closest (in design) to my QTP's then any of the others and I personally LOVE them. QTP or Kooks, I don't think you can go wrong.

Went with Stainless Works due to the design and price. They were desinged to tuck up and produce better results for the cubic inches. I've been complimented on them many times(look like cooks and perform better just as good if not better). My numbers are what they are. Your header should create a vacuum, it should enhance the drawing of air through the motor. SW's have a smaller primaries 1 5/8's as compared to 1 3/4 on others to produce this, or at least thats what I read about them before I bought them. My hp and tq is what it is. Yes the catted Y pipe was a PIA, but with tight tolerances you can expect it. IT doesnt hang any lower than stock did and was desinged to be as such. But this is for an fbody, you've got a goat. I would look for people who have goats and ask them what they did and how they like it.

I have Kooks on mine. I went with the racing headers cause I don't have to worry about emissions. Really nice set-up.

I'm not sure who all makes LTs for GTOs, but the Kooks, QTPs & PPCs are the best headers for LS1 F-bodies. Pacesetter is probably the best "cheap header". SLPs hang too low.

Another vote for Kooks. Stay far away from anything with an SLP badge on it.

QTP dosn't make them for my car
(I just got an email back from them today)

I'm trying to resurch them on the GTO boards too,
not alotta GTO's have LT's at this point,
mostly shorties and mid length headers

I'd go Dynatech, excellent quality. I own a set on my car.

While everything's going on, why not some heads to go w/ the setup?

Kooks should be the same as QTP design wise.

as it is,
I will be pushing the limits of the drivetrain,
I think that should be enough power for a while,

next will be to build up the suspension and drive line.
(anti sway bars, harrop rear end cover, one piece drive shaft, maybe some steeper gears, and a better posi)
if I need more power, I will get some Nitrous
