I honestly dont know too much about what the power gap is on a stalled A4 car vs. a M6 for them to run about the same, RWHP wise. But i was just wondering, say you had a 380RWHP Stalled A4 Vs. 400RWHP M6, who would win, and by how much?

Depends on driver. If the M6 had a good driver and could shift, the M6 could take it, it would be hard though. But it would be fairly close either way I would think.

from a roll the m6 should win. from a dig, the auto should win.

Can't say "any" because the outcome would be totally different.
From a dig @ the track, the A4 has a slight edge due to launch however if the M6 has a good drivetrain & driver it's anybody's game.
From a 55 mph roll, a 400 rw M6 would eat alive a 380 rw A4. Back in 99-00 I was outrunning cam only A4's in the 360-380 rwhp range with a stock internal 351 rwhp M6 car.

Good info, thanks! :) But why is the A4 not so good from a roll?
I believe its mostly in the gearing and how much power its stealing vs the m6

Thats pretty much it.
Ever ride in a bone stock A4 car? Go WOT into 3rd gear and feel how far the car falls on it's face from the 3rd gear ratio. Same applies to a 380 car, just doesn't feel as bad because the car is making more power. An M6 car keeps pulling all the way through 5th gear, especially w/ 400 rw.
MPH is everything in a roll race.

The auto car would win from a dig, M6 from a roll by a lot.

Thats because A4's suck! :P :gruffy:
Ever tried to launch an M6? If we rev to high, the tires will spin, dont rev enough, and it falls on its face. A4's don't bog, due to the stall converter. This comes at a parasitic cost. The M6's don't have this loss when roll racing, with a strong enough clutch, its almost like a direct-drive system.

ive stayed even or outrun several 400 rwhp M6 cars from a roll. my car only dynoed close to 380 (386 i think).

The M6 cars werent driven properly, or you went from a bad speed for them.

well a stalled auto that has 380 at the wheels has a LOT more at the fly wheel. stalled autos dont dyno well at all.

your trapping 119.7, thats more than most cam-only cars. In fact, 119.7 is right around where I'm running at, is your car super light or something?

I believe you, because you are trapping 119 mph. But, your average cam&bolt-ons LS1 wont be trapping 119, and probably won't be keeping up with too many 400rwhp M6's from a roll (assumming the M6 driver can drive, M6 is ALL about the driver). With that said, your car is haulin' some ass for cam & boltons!

my buddy with a 02 ws6, Tr230 cam, ls6 intake, 12 bolt w 4:30s, asp pulley, 1 cutout, M6, elec. w/p, shortbelt mod, LT headers and his own ls1 edit tuning went 11.6@120. the DA was -500 which is great and he did have skinnies up front and 15" w/ slicks in the rear. other than that it was full weight. nothing removed.

exactly what Im running, except I am still running the stock water pump, stock belt, and I dont think the DA was -500. Congrats to your buddy, thats haulin for a TR230 cam car.

thanks. that was before i lost a ringland :(. comp 224 cam. 3.73s, VIG 3200, slick and skinnies, turndowns. no real weight reduction other than the exhaust and slicks/skinnies, spare tire. i dont remember if i had the seats out. i threw a pt4400 in and ran 11.30@117? full weight on street wheels and 100% full exhaust. then i broke the trans. then i broke the engine. rebuilt the engine up and got a trans...maybe when i get some money ill start racing again.
but...the point of the story is that i didnt dyno 390 or 400 and still beat many cars :) including an 03 modded cobra from a roll a couple times. he edged me out a hair a few times if he got the jump.

I know the dead spot that you guys are talking about, i used to have my car tuned to drop to 1st at any speed below 41, and 2nd below 70, and that eliminated the dead spot. If that was done would the outcome from a roll be the same? Im not trying to "make" the A4 win, im just wondering.

You went 11.30's w/cam and bolt ons and now power adder w/a TR224? Thats flyin for that cam, what did you do with the VIG 3200

id say a properly tuned stall would do good from a roll too and murder from a dig but i guess im a bit biased...

the car was a factory freak :D went 11.8s stock internals before a lot of people started doing it. that was lid, 3.23, headers, cutout, tuning. now my stock internal time would be bumped off the list by people going 11.6s :( i sold the converter. i think it went to some military guy that lived in hawaii. i forget. now another local racer has the cam and hes running pretty good with it too. not sure how the new setup is working cause ive only raced it once and my trans kept locking up at the 60'. mid 12s at part throttle on a 2.2. should move pretty good if i launch it and theres no problems. did i mention it has 2.73s now too :D think the mph was around 114. the part throttle run was the only run that the trans wasnt acting up.
