Default Forged 347 or 370

I just ordered a forged 370 from Forced Fed High Performance. Is that a wise choice over a forged 347? If so, why or why not. I ordered it due to the fact that the pricing was the same beween the two. I'd like to go bigger, but due to $$$, this is it.

Thanks for comments, all my mods are in sig and plan on running 12psi.

you should have better area under the curve with the 370, especially with the d1.

If you had a p1, id suggest a little different, but you should be fine with it.

I wanted a 370 but they only had them in a iron block. So I went with the forged 347.

You're only talking 24 cubes either way. I doubt it would make much of a difference.

I ended up going the 347 route, due to the added weight in the front.

Same here, I gave up the 24 cubes for 65lbs off the front end. The cubes can give your engine more power, but the weight reduction helps everything.

It's not so much the minimal difference in cubes but the strength of the block that you are really choosing between. I spoke with a guy up in NY who does much of GMs R&D engine development about the alum 347/iron 366 dilemma. He said he had personally witnessed 3 ls1 blocks fail under moderate boost. He said with any kind of detonation the thin ls1 sleeves will crack and the motor will blow. For sake of keeping my investment running for years to come I went with his advice despite the added weight of the iron block. Look at W2W, when they chose to use the iron block for their record breaking 1600hp car, they probably had a good reason.
