Default Quick question - carrier bearings

I know wheels bearings and such need to be packed with grease before installation, but what about carrier bearings? Do they need to be packed as well? Thanks

Yes but not with grease, I would put some gear oil on them before you install the carrier so they are not dry for the first few miles.

Well so much for that fix, turns out it's the pinion bearings that are shot which I don't have the tools to replace.
