Default Ford 9"...hands down the strongest rear for the F-Body

If not, whats better strength-wise?

Does the 9" allow for TCS hook-up?

The 9" has arguably proven to be the strongest and most durable aftermarket rear to be put into our fbods. If you mean traction control system then yes, several vendors offer the 9" with a 4chnl abs w/tcs for additional cost.

Two steetable rearends better, but way overkill- GM fullfloating 14 bolt, and Dana 60. They are also very friggin heavy, but sweet for hipo drrag cars and rock crawlers.I would run a 9" over a gm 12bolt given the choice

The Moser 9 inch can be had with the 4 channel (ABS and TCS) option, but not just ABS, which means in your case, you're in luck. $2,500.00 shipped with the ABS/TCS option. Bob

So what if someone had 1,500 RWHP and the car was a 100% street car that just did roll races from say 50-180mph?

What rear-end?

Maybe go to the track once to see what it'll do, but still not go for an all out HARD crazy launch on slicks. Just for curiousity.

What rear-end?
With that amount of horsepower I would recommend the 9", and a set of 3.25 gears for 180 mph (wow that is some serious roll racing)

Are you racing Supras by any chance?

Yes. And TT Heffner Vipers. But they all have around 900-1,100 RWHP, so they will get hammered. Its a project that I'm researching and hope to start very soon, like a matter of weeks.

I have 3.73 gears now, that would be too high I guess for 180mph. But wouldn't it get me there faster?

Well it would all depend on your tire size, but if you are all about highway topend you should consider a manual tranny. I don't know many 4l60e transmissions that can hold 1000+ rwhp for a long amount of time. With that amount of horsepower you would have no problem pulling 3.08 or 3.25 gears. I would think any more gear and you would spin even at 50-70 mph on radials

I would never consider a 4L60E type tranny. My current 500 RWHP is hard on it.

A guy here in town has a brand new TH400 w/GV overdrive and a built Ford 9" rear. If I want it. The company that might be building the engine also has a tranny and rear-end shop that can build the TH400 and the 9" rear for the car. I was told I'd have cluth problems all the time with that much power and that an automatic is best for roll races with that much power.

I can garentee YOU will have no problems if you build it and then give it to me. Seriously, you wont have any problems, I swear.
