Default Opinions needed on 3.5" exhaust

By next weekend Ill be getting the stock catback cut off and Ill be running a piece of 3.5" pipe stright back through a moroso spiral flow and then dumped near the back axle. I plan on doing a full exhaust and at least a cam down the road so thats why I want to go 3.5". W/ just a lid and this setup Im aware I may lose a touch of tq down low. This should still net me about 10 to the wheels up in the power band though, right?

Do you plan on pushing 600rwhp? Otherwise it is overkill. that is what 300bhp is hinting at.

Bullshit its not overkill. In fact I would say use 4" if you are gonna run a single pipe. A single 3" pipe just aint cutting it for max power. Why not just go ahead and run you some little 2.25" pea shooter duals so you have better sound if you are gonna use 3" pipe because thats the same area of pipe.

A perfect single exhaust would be a 3.5 or 4" using a flowmaster merge in the y pipe. I have built and sold 3" pipe with spiral flows and dumped at axle and its the best sounding setup I have heard yet, even better than my duals. The spiral flow sounds sweet. If they made it in a 4" I would say go for it.

You really need to use that flowmaster merge though because it has a 4" outlet that can be reduced to 3.5 if you want. Non flowmaster merge y pipes have a 3" outlet and it would not make much since to go 3.5" after the 3" bottleneck.

3.5" single (if you are only using a single) is recommended by Magnaflow for anything over 350rwhp..

i agree its not over kill at all..

Thanks guys. Thats exactly what I wanted to hear FullForce. Within 6 months I will be attaching this setup to the qtp off road y pipe (with the 4" flowmaster merge I believe)when I put the HVMC's on. I just wanted to get this done now because I hate hearing the sound of the engine over my stock exhaust. I wanted to plan for the future and it looks like several of you have run this setup with good results. Im pleased to hear that this will sound awesome.
