Okay, I found today, that the boot connector, that joins the blackwing airbox to the MAF (an SLP part) has cracked on me. This is on a 2002 TA/Firehawk.
So fine, I need to buy a new one directly from SLP, but they are charging $49.95, plus shipping, plus handling for the thing.
Has anyone come up with an alternate way of attaching the airbox to the MAF?

I posted this in both the Camaro/SS secton along with the Firebird/Firehawk's becuase this boot is on both those models.
There was some confusion in the other thread. Its not my bellows thats cracked, its the boot on the airbox.

Yeah, it had cracked on the bottom part, so I had no idea there was a problem.
I took the lid off today, and was cleaning it up, top and bottom, thats when I noticed the crack. arg!

Well as a last resort, there is a black silicone that sticks to plastic and rubber very well.I would just make sure that I only put it on the outside of it just so it doesnt get sucked internally. Only you would know it has silicone on it, well plus everyone that reads this. :eyes:

Nice thought...Its right up there with duct tape. :-)
Haha, thats true, I forgt about the old mighty 'Duct Tape' meathod! That stuff fixes anything.
I'm thinking of buying a new lid altogether, so whats everyone opinion on the better flowing airlid:
Either the stock Blackwing lid (like I have now),
or the SLP lid ( http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=21045 )
?

There is alot of opinions on this subject :eek2: from fitting properly to hp gains, to what type of filters.. Do a search on different clubs, and maybe some people will post up what they know and find to help out. I have the slp with the K&N filter on my 2002 transam. On the hawk it is the blackwing with the K&N filter. When I put the K&N filter in the hawk it sucked differently. Was it better I hope so.I have no problems with either. You should be able to save money by checking on here (ls1tech) for someone selling what you want. Here is a little info for you. Good luck
