Default Who wants to see the dyno of an LB9?

Is it sacreligious to reference a gen I on an LS/LT site? Hope not.

Had a dyno day this weekend with some portland guys and put my '91 up on the rollers. Not too much done to it. Aftermarket manifold and an lt1 cam. Even the exhaust logs are stock. Same with the tune and as you can see at the bottom, the wideband is pegged out. I'm running pig rich most of the rpm band but I suck at tuning so that may stay that way for awhile.

224hp and 247ft/lbs

That is darn good HP out of a basically stock LB9. My LB9 did 170/210 as I recal.

I knew it was running rich but didn't know it was that rich. Blower? I'd go the turbo route if I were to keep this engine. I'm thinking about LSx power though.

Amorget, what all did you have done to yours? Stock? There was another guy with another 305 that had TBI, intake manifold, headers, port work on the heads and just a slightly bigger cam that dyno'd 223/258 so I'm sure there's a bit more in there.

Yup, a little on the rich side.

I like that torque plateau though!

Those are good numbers from a basically stock TPI motor.

Stock as a Rock, 120k on the clock I think, through a 700R4 w/ 2.73s :-) I never dynoed it with the turbo on it.

IIRC it is the "stock" 305 TPI from the late 80's, early 90's......

So I would say that's pretty damn good for the time frame! That era wasn't kind when it came to producing fast cars.

The lb9 and L98 is the first of the multi port fuel injected (TPI) fbods. The lb9 is the 5.0 boat anchor and the L98 is the standard 350.

Stock rating is I think 210 or 190 at the flywheel so I was impressed.

This is through a t56 so I don't know which would eat more power, I assume your 700r.
Wait...turbo? Whaaaaat?

If memory serves, it was 205 for the auto and 230 for the 5 speed 305's.....that is for 1991 (isnt that the year of your Bird?)

FWIW, the 350's were 245 for 91.

Yup, 91. This one started out as an auto without the dual cat option so it was probably the ~205.

Sounds like you have done some good work to her then to get those kinda rear wheel numbers.

I am still on the hunt (not very actively lately) for a 1991 or 92 Z-28. I miss my old 3rd Gens and with all the stuff you can do/available for them now, it would be sooooooo

My guess is the 700R4 is probably eating more power then the T-56. But I really don't know.
