Same thing my car was doing. It ended up that the teeth on the reverse synchro were wore out and it no longer would stay engaged in reverse. I changed the reverse gear,Synchro, blocker ring, and shift fork. All the parts were around $350 and now reverse feels awesome. Backed up my driveway the other day and it never even thought of popping out of gear or grinding. I got all my parts from LS1Joe (he posts on here) @ T56rebuilds.com and he has awesome customer service, and has pretty much everything in stock. He was very helpful on the phone and my parts were here in less than a week.http://www.t56rebuilds.com/
