Default How much can stock steel LS1 Driveshaft take?

How much can stock steel LS1 Driveshaft take? I am on a budget and do not need a 1200HP driveshaft but the aluminum one won't last on my M6 car dropping at 6k. Will the steel one be safe for a while? I tried searching, but only found info on aluminum.

TIA

I am running a stock steel shaft as of now also. I would like some imput on this as well. I'll be running the new combo on stock shaft and rear for a little while.

I've broke my stock alum. driveshaft and a inland empire alum. driveshaft. I got a steel driveshaft w/ 1350 yokes made and no problems yet. And it only cost $240 to get made.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the stock M6 driveshafts are aluminum. The driveshafts in the 2.73 A4 cars are steel.

If you plan to launch at 5-6k all the time I would get a chromemoly driveshaft for like $300-400.

Also the 2.73 steel driveshafts sometimes have caused broken tailshafts (for the A4), so I don't recommend staying with those either if you run a lot at the track. I'm not sure why they do that, but it's either a balance issue or an rpm issue or something.

I am selling the aluminum one and looking into steel ones. My budget does not allow for $300-$400 DS. I was hoping a factory steel unit would work for now. Thanks for the info. I may have to look into something else then.

I have an M6 but I'm actually running a steel lt1 shaft. Guess I should place more emphasis on getting a new rearend rather than a new shaft for now...

I believe the stock steel driveshaft is not meant to be
spun at speeds, like you would expect on a steep-gears
M6 car. Think that is what breaks tailhousings on A4
cars, do not know whether the M6 is any beefier. This
is one place not to skimp IMO.
