Default flex plate and starter

Car has trouble starting, and has a shake/rattle coming from that area, so im assuming these two need to be replaced...

about how hard is the job,and about how much should I pay for these parts?

car is an auto 95 z28.....the car starts and seems fine.....the auto tranny does shift from 1-2 hard but nothing seems to be slipping at all.....

I would check the starter 1st. Once the starter is removed check the teeth and manually rotate the crank and check the teeth on the flywheel. Does the starter require a shim?
