Default 3-series and 2-series

Would a 2-series carrier and ring and pinion interchange into a factory 3-series housing in a '99 Z28.

Here's the story. Ive come across a great deal on swapping my A4, shifter and whatnot for TH350 setup. But currently I still need my '99 for a daily driver until I can get the title work straight on my lil Hombre and renew the tag.

Im not worried about getting the optimum drag racing gear into the car until im ready to pony up for the 9" setup.

I just wanna go ahead and get the TH350 in it and an "airplane" gear so I dont shoot myself on mileage, lol.

I dont quite understand what you are wanting to do. Put the 3 series gears on the 2 series carrier? If thats the case it wont work, though you could buy a spacer to put inbetween the carrier and ring gear, then it would work. Otherwise you will need a thick gear. Or are you wanting to put all the guts from the 2 series into the 3 and use the 2 series ring/pinion?

Yes. I want to put 2.73 gears in my '99 and im wondering if I can get an old 2 series carrrier/ring n pinion and put it in my '99's housing and axles and what not.

Again, i dont know if you could switch the internals, but you could get a posi unit from a b4c or something with 2.73's and try it.

Its a 28 spline carrier in the '99's right?

Moser sells a ring gear spacer for $49. I could also try that (putting the airplane gears on the 3-series carrier) I guess.
