It is a sound deadning stuff and it is about 15-20# depending on how much of it you get.

I have ripped it out or more like cut it out of all my cars. you will need a box cutter type to get most of it out. it is alot easier if the whole dash is gone but you may not be to that point yet....

its also to keep the heat transferring into your car.............. if your gonna get rid of that i would suggest getting rid of all of the insulation under the carpet....... as long as u dont mind a little noise

Hell I would like to know where you can get some of that at.
It seems like it would be cheaper than other stuff.
anyone know?
or something like it?
Besides dynamat and fat mat. Im looking for something identical to this.
It's basically jute with rubber backing of some sort right?

why remove it??? your not loosing that much weight... it really would be pointless, unless this is a full race car and your pulling it for roll cage reason's. other than that there is no point in removing it... just my .02

Less weight is easier on parts and the car picks up!

yea, but that peice. ok if your going to remove all through out the whole car... then you will loose 20-25lbs. which will help in the long run... but you have a 3600lbs. car... that little bit.. isnt going to affect wear and tear on the car... your foot on the other hand will.... but i cant say cuz my foot stays in it all the time...

It shields sound and heat. I'd leave it in on a daily driver but it's up to you. If you want to go for a record then you gotta take it out.

Are you writing about the sound deadening material that is onder the carpet? Is there a piece higher up on the firewall? I pulled the stuff from under the carpet, but was not aware of another rubber piece anywhere.

no there is a very large, thick rubber peice up front under the pedals that goes up the firewall. I'll try to find a pic.

Thanks. I think mine was different. When I changed the carpet, I do not remember seeing this piece. I will have to check it out. My car is already quite loud with the lighter carpet. If I do have this piece, I doubt removing it will make the car much louder.
