I don't think it is really the same transmission. I mean to say they similar and share some parts. It seems like it has a different gear box, though.
I found this at the following link, http://www.vipercompetitioncoupe.com...ications.html# :
Gear Ratios
1st ..... 2.66
2nd ..... 1.78
3rd ..... 1.30
4th ..... 1.00
5th ..... 0.74
6th ..... 0.50

I bought a Viper trans. for my 71 Chevelle. The shifter is forward more, so I can use the stock consol. (as told by D&D) Thay also recommended using a Viper trans because all the mods they due to the Camaro/Firebird trans. is already done. They claim it should hold up well to my twin turbo LS1 making 750-850hp @ the flywheel.

The pree 03 Vipers had essentially the same gears/ internals as an Fcar. Major dif was in the iron 3/4 fork from the factory. The 03-later units do have dif gears although the ratios are the same. The VIPER bell to block pattern is different( obviously) and the bell to T56 adapter pattern is a little off but useable. The "swap" will also require an input shaft change as well as a clutch release system rework.
