I did not have to remove anything except the old stock exhaust system to install pacesetters..they will just slide right in... lifting the engine is not needed..

Your gonna have to get the car a pretty good ways up off the ground, and slide them in from the bottom. I put my car up on jackstands all the way around so I had room to work under the car.

You may have to grind off a 1/2" section on a tab on the driver side block. It doesn't hurt anything, but my caught on that. A quick grind and they slid right in. Very easy.

I had to get my girl friend to lay under the car and hold them up when I was bolting them on or they would fall out on the floor. No grinding needed here...

the instructions that came with the headers tell you that you might have to raise the block.. tsp told me you didnt have to, and i didnt.. they also said pacesetter made a revision on their long tubes so you didnt have to notch the k member or anything

Well i guess i was lucky but yet not so lucky my 98 ls1 blew 2 holes on both sides of the block also cracked on the front bottom of the timing cover. This all happen on start up car sat for 1 week and during that whole week it rained out i wasnt able home so i didnt drive it water got under the hood and my engine hydrolocked weird part was even with hole on the sides of the block the car would still run lol it didnt even set off any codes. So i ordered Pacesetter LT's got a deal on a 04 Z06 engine got ls6 intake took out the old motor from underneath with whole kmember put the pretty much brand new ls6 engine has like 4k on with headers intake everything harness all on the rolling cross member went in without a hitch. But it must be a nightmare trying to put headers in theres like no space what so ever. But can anyone recommend a Y-pipe with cats for my pacesetter lt's i wanna quite it down a bit and also need for visual inspection for emissions.

just jack the car up as high as you can, remove the coil packs, and get your self a 24pack and some ratcheting wrenches. you'll be good.

I did mine by myself with practically no tools and I am
57 yrs old I cut that tab off the drivers side engine block
with a sawzall took about 5 min. to remove it. The install
took about 2 days and and the y pipe wasn't easy but you
will probably do it alot faster than me

Mine was easy. Having a second set of hands is EXTREMELY helpfull, but no grinding or unnecessary trouble here. And 98z28chevy, check your PM's b/c I'm getting rid of my TSP catted Y and pacesetter LT's.

pacesetters are one of the easiest longtubes to install. Especially if you go with the off road headers! It took me and a buddy only maybe 2-3hrs. Of course i was in the middle of a clutch swap also so i had my stock cat-back already off. Its very easy to do yourself.........just grab a friend and some beer!

I have installed Pacesetters on two diff LS1 cars with no lifting of the engine whatsoever.
