Im waiting until the car is paid for, and im out of college b4 i get a 9 inch. Plus, right now my rear is comming apart. So, how strong are motives?

Motives are fine. I like the USGear or Yukon sets.

Motives are fine, but I suggest going with Strange.

From what I've heard, Strange provides a pretty good gear. Don't know about noise though

I had Richmonds (supposed to be loud) in my 10 bolt (3.73s) and they never made noise and I have seen people with Motive Gears (supposed to be quiet) that make LOADS of noise........it is all in the setup.......

my 4.56 12 bolt that Moser setup is quiet as can be also.......

good point. Is there something special to setting up these 10 bolts that a mechanic may not be aware of? The last gears that i used (richmonds) were loud. They were done by my usual garage. I wanted my buddy who is a mechanic at a chevy dealership to do it b/c he says he can garuntee their quietness.

if they are too tight, they will make a lot of noise........

I remember when I drove back from Vegas to Phoenix with my 10bolt and when I left Vegas everything was quiet as can be......when I got to Phoenix after sever hours of 80-100mph driving non stop, WOW, it was like someone was sitting in the back of the car with a power drill...........reason, the gears got hot and the backlash (clearances) closed up........

The brand of gear you choose can have an effect on how much sound it amkes. But the main factor in gear whine is how well they are set up.
