what all do i need for new gears

what all do i need for new gears thinking about getting strange 373's for my A4... what all do i need besides the gears? do i need to buy the install kit if I am getting a shop to install them?

install kit has shims and new bearings (usually) in them.........changing bearings depends on how many miles you have on the old ones (I didn't change mine since they only have 5K on them) and they ran for 50K miles (till I broke the gears)...
you at least need the shims (might be able to order a shim pack) to setup.....
I seem to remember that A4 cars use a different diff (3 series.....don't quote me.....) than the M6 cars so either make sure you get gears for an A4 rearend or get a stocker diff out of an M6 car........
OR (what I would do if it were my car)
is replace the stock diff at the same time as the stocker really is a POS (blew mine out 5K miles later).....get a good Auborn (sp?).....that way you won't be doing one-leggers (the Auborn went strong untill the gears blew out.....gave it to someone else, they put it in their car, and last I heard it is still going strong......).....

Since when? My A4 is a 3 series carrier.
