Default 4spd. tranny

is it possible to put a muncie 4spd. race tranny in place of the stock 6spd? the reason i am asking is that there is car for sale by me and has no tranny or motor. also will it come out in the same spot as the 6spd inside the car?
thanks!

If you post this question in the manual transmission forum I'm sure you will get some knowledge there or at least be pointed in the right direction. I bet that someone out there produces a bracket kit.

Lakewood makes a bellhousing that will mate a 4-speed to an LS1. I doubt the shifter would be in the same spot, though, as IIRC the shifter is more on the side of the trans on the Muncies, and the shifter is top center rear tailhousing on the 6-speed.

I have a 4-speed in my '98. I took 5th and 6th out of the tranny. Pro shifted 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears.

Honestly, I'd stick with a T56.
