Default Rear End "Clank"

I've got a new 2002 Z28 w/ about 2500 miles on it and an M6 tranny. When I let out the clutch with too low of RPMS (i.e. I take too long to shift or don't give it enough gas while I'm shifting), I get a definite clank from the rear end. Its not loud, but its certainly audible and unmistakeable. I'm 90% certain its coming from the rear diff. Is this normal or expected, or should I have the dealer look at it? I heard people mention before that sometimes something in the rear diff isn't always tightened correctly... Any comments would be appreciated,

Matt

I forgot to add that it has done it since the day it rolled off the show room floor and 47,000 miles down the road it is still present...... I'm glad nothing has let loose!!

Seems to be a common thing, there has been no long term damage caused from this, from what I'm aware of.

Remember to change your rear diff oil before 7000 miles (remember the GM gear additive). This will prolong the life of your rear (at near stock power levels). And may quiet things down a bit (it did on mine).

This is what happens when you have too much rear diff backlash, or too much slack. Mine does the same and I hate it. So far nothing has happened. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

I have the same problem. It seems to me it's more to the left rear than the center. Sometimes it's really loud. Like a lower control arm bolt loose. Can't find squat. I have a little roar in the ring & pinion, we all know what that is. Both have done this since new.
