Will I get 400? (budget h/c)
Ill have the mods in my sig and be adding some patriot performance stage 2 ls1 heads, and an underdrive pulley. I am going with the perimeter bolt heads so I wont have to mess with changing anything over or getting new valve covers and it is the cheapest possible route.
I will install them with no milling and will be using the stock head gaskets.
Also. My stock clutch is working good right now. And I dont really have the money for a new one quite yet. I will definately be getting one in the future...but I would like to get the car tuned and running good, and the most expesive stuff taken care of before I get the clutch.
Will using my stock clutch during the dyno hurt my numbers?
Full bolt on,224 cam, patriot stage 2 ls1 heads, 6 speed.
Can I expect 400 to the wheels on a dyno jet? I have told my friends I shoud get this, and I dont want to look stupid on dyno day.
I have a search but could find no one with my set-up.
thanks for the help

I'm running their 5.3's at 10.8-1 SCR. 420rwhp @ 396rwtq with the cutout. I would see if Patriot would mill them to around the above SCR. You'll gain some easy power there. You will have to use shorter pushrods though. I'd say 410rwhp the way you have it set up in your post.

I don't see why you wouldn't put down 400+ rwhp. Unless your clutch is completely trashed and it won't put the power to the wheels on the dyno, I wouldn't think it would hurt you too awful bad. You really need to start saving for a good clutch soon. With the mods you have it won't be long until you are needing a good high performance clutch.
I run the PP Stage II LS6 style heads with a 224/224 .581 112 lsa CompCam, Kooks LT's, X-pipe, and with a M6, stock clutch and thru the stock 10 bolt with 3.42's I put down the #'s in my sig.

I can get some pics....just never really cared too
Not many people are too impressed with the looks of a 4th gen z28 it seems like...so I never even messed with it.
Ive got 17 inch chrome zr1's, clear corners, chrome halo's, red badges and red rear lettering.
I love my current cam (just awesome for the street) and im not really all that into peak numbers, I would rather have something nice and reliable that I can daily drive and not have to worry about anything. So im just gonna throw some decent heads at it, nothing special. Just as long as I get to the 400 mark.
I also have weight on my side(compared to some other 4th gens, 03 cobra's,gto etc)..so ill just save my money.
Their will always be someone faster anyway.
Ill be taking it to ls1 speed. Kind of a jaunt for me....but will be worth it.
And they use a dyno jet
thanks for the replies

Well...looks like I can get a real good deal on these heads with 2.055/1.60 size valves installed.
It would only be 100 bucks more.
Im not sure I should say the name....but I can get these heads for under 1000 bucks shipped to my door with free head bolts and gaskets...all for UNDER 1000 bucks shipped.
I can get these with the 2.02/157 valves for under 900 shipped.
If anyone wants to know pm me.
Would I lose horsepower going with this size valves on my set-up/cubes/cam size?
thanks a lot

How much did this setup set you back?
Anything else you changed?
I'm going the same route and just trying to come up with a parts/price lists.
Thanks!

Yes many things have changed since then.
I ended up going with a more aggressive cam.
The patriot heads I had were 59cc....Which was unkown to me until I had them checked (seller said they were 64)...which would have made my dcr around 9.0 with the new cam I decided to run, so I had to sell them.
I also decided to get a new clutch system.
I got my custom cam from speed inc. They shipped very fast and had great customer service. The first cam I had sent was defective...and they took care of everything for me and I had a new one in like 3 days. They dont charge anything extra for a custom cam...they are 379 just like the rest of their cams.
The tsp prc ls6 heads are 1000 if you go with the competition valve job which is 100 bucks, which I think is worth it. You can then add comp 918 springs for 150 or prc double springs for 250. I got the comp 918s and then bought some cometic .040 gaskets to raise my compression, get a tight quench, and put my dcr at about 8.6, which should make for some good torque. The heads and gaskets ended up costing me something like 1370 shipped. But be warned...be prepared to wait a few weeks if you want some cometics. If they dont have the thickness gasket you want in stock...it will take a while to get them made and sent to you from cometic.

I was talking about dynamic compression ratio (dcr). 9.0 is too high for pump gas.
A stock ls1 head is 67cc, ls6 is 64. Therefor 67cc will give you stock static compression of 10.1 with stock gaskets. An ls6 head with stock gaskets will give you about 10.5 static compression. With a .040 cometic about 11.1 static compression.
I would go with ported ls6 heads from prc (texas-speed) or patriot...best bang for the buck around right now IMO.

With mods in sig i put 428hp also using the 224 cam. This is through a nine inch so im going to bet with a good tune you should see about 430hp. Call finish line performance, they have always done a great job tuning my car and a few other friends cars. They are a sponsor here. Good luck.
