Default 3.73 gears OK for FI?

I just got my 12 bolt this summer with 3.73's and am thinking of going with a D1SC and built motor with ported heads and properly sized cam, thinking 600 rwhp roughly. I have a built 4L60E and can run 28" tires if need be. Will the 3.73's be too much? Its primarily a street car but I like to go to the track when I can.

id say bigger gears actually would probably work better with a blower.

only reason for that is when you have a blower, typically you reach full boost the higher the rpms. the faster you rip through gears, the faster you should reach that RPM.

If it is a turbo, thats different. It creates a different kind of load making the turbo need to spool.

So if you dont have enough time to let the turbo spool up, its not matched up properly and is wasting part of it.

Please correct me if im wrong.

I would try out the car with the 3.73s and if you feel that you are going through the gears too quickly then change them to 3.42s or 3.23s depending on how you feel.

i ran 4.10s on my old vortech YSI setup w/ no probs. Me thinks 3.73s will be just fine for ya in an A4 but, as mentioned above, if they're not then drop down

My 3.73s are on the way. It was that or 3.91 and 3.91 would put me in 5th gear which is an extra shift...

Unless you run taller tires, you will run out of gear in 3rd gear! Go with 3.42s!
