Default Which is the best fix for y-pipe bang?

Mufflex hanger, or poly motor mounts. Going to be doing headers and don't want banging. Should I get one or the other or both?

You decide, Mufflex is a band-aid to the problem, Poly mounts fix the problem. I put mounts on and it has NEVER banged again. For $50, you can't go wrong.

If i had my way, poly motor mounts would come with every set of headers. You will LOVE youself for putting them in. Thunder has them for $50 if you diddnt already know.

They will help even more when you're cutting 1.5 60's and putting down 500rwhp too.....

If you still get banging with the poly mounts in, you can put a hanger on, but its hard to put motor mounts in after the headers. You can also weld a valvespring between the floorboard and the y-pipe, i've actually seen this on these boards before

I have 0 problems with mine being noisy/rough. And yes, poly mounts are the way to go to cure the banging.

Plus, they are much easier to put in while installing headers.

Really you want to shim the pipe while you're
hanging it, to ensure clearance all down the
line, then put the floor jack to the lowest
point and push it up until the body lifts, then
re-dog-down all the clamps. I have used either
bits of 1"x2" lumber, or 3/4" copper plumbing
T fittings (depending on what was laying
about handy at the various times).

If I install the poly mounts, what is the car going to be like afterwards? I'm sure they're soft for a reason from the factory. Is the chassis going to feel the engine torque more? Is the car going to vibrate more from the engine? What will I be getting into with these things installed?

I had poly motor mounts and a poly tranny mount installed when i had my
headers done. Never have I ever experienced y-pipe issues. It's hard to
explain. It doesn't bother me one bit. You can kind of feel the car running
through the steering wheel. A little vibe through the steering wheel but that's
all. No extra noises and it doesn't rattle anything or vibrate the **** out of my
car either. Kind of wishing I went solid actually. I also have sfc's, though so
that may be keeping rattling issues down to a minimal. Hope this helps some.

The only increase you would see with poly mounts is if you went with a poly trans mount. The poly motor mounts didn't increase any vibration in my car AT ALL.
