Default 2nd gear locks me out

hello all

im sorry to bug everyone but i don't know too much about transmissions and i've run into a problem. today, 2nd gear started locking me out, however, it goes into all the other gears fine. i would blame it on my skip shift eliminator but i thought that it prevents the car from locking you out of 3rd gear too, but then again i may be wrong. ther car only goes into 2nd gear at dead stop. can anyone help me out please? thanks in advance.

I could be a bad blocker ring, broken key or hydraulic problem. I would lean more towards the synchro (blocker ring) on the gear being worn out and needing to be rebuilt. I hope this helps.

i would look at the hydrolics first though

try bleeding the system and get out all the crap fluid then midyvac it

2ed gear is the gear that will feel the effects of the the most for some reason

I would defeat the skip shift to eliminate that from the equation. Simply pull the skip shift plug from your transmission and if you like, insert a 2.2k (2200) ohm resister across the plug. You will still see the skipshift light on the dash but you won't be blocked at any time from going into the gear.

If you still have a problem after circumventing the skipshift I would start to consider that there's something wrong within the t56.

Depends but you are looking at close to $890 and thru the end of Feb. shipping to and from is free.

Thanks,
Joe

PS:Try pulling the skip shift out like mention above to rule that out before you go pulling the transmissions. It will save you $889 if that is the problem. The resistors are around $.99 from radio shack.
