local...not in Norfolk. or anywhere real close for that matter. most local shops are all import/mustang shops, but there arent any fbody shops around here.
hit up EFA if you havent been there already.

well, theres not too much to do now, since its winter.
every friday/sat people meet up in Norfolk and Newport News, and there is usually atleast 50 cars. alot of imports, but we normally make our presense known.
ive been to Richmond a few times, but i honestly dont like it. everytime i went the track prep was lacking. Dinwiddie (VMP) is a better track IMO and its a little closer too. MIR is another option, but its about 2hrs away - but ive been able to cut 1.8x 60's at MIR where i couldnt muster anything below a 2.1 at VMP or Richmond. but i go fairly often, as long as money permits.

Are the other two tracks you mentioned 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile????
Im not liking 1/8 mile.... unless its really close to practice and get my launch down...... :jest: How close??
2hrs to the track is nothin.... :jest: drive a lil over 2 hrs now to San Antonio...

Virginia Motorsports Park (Dinwiddie) is 1/4. they have Pontiacs in the Park, Super Chevy, Fun Ford Weekend, etc stop by there. and its about an hour to get there - we take the back roads :drive:
Richmond Dragway is 1/4. a little over an hour, maybe 1 1/2 away.
Maryland International Raceway is in Mechanicsville, Md., and its a 1/4 too. it took us exactly 2 hours to get there. but we were hauling ass. speed limits up here are like 55-65 (usually 55), but when you get away from this area on 64, traffic moves at about 80-90. and in some sections of long, deserted highway we lined up and hit triple digit speeds. so i dont know how far away it is doing the speed limit.lol
im getting a new phone, and it will be here in a few days. so when i gets here ill pm you my number, i love pizza and beer. :chug:

SWEET.....
Looks like i wont have to trailer her far then.....
Me and my girl love going out and just cruising around in the evenings....
Whats the weather like there in June??
U have AIM or anything else??
Kyle

02-15-2006, 05:21 AM
trailer??? oh no. we dont use trailers here.lol. its not that far, you could drive it to the track just fine.
we normally goto Dinwiddie anyway, so its not far at all.
the weather in June is normally pretty nice (from what i remember of last year), and it should be good track weather.
i do have AIM, and my sn is hiddendialect - but im not on it that much. when im online im usually on the ship, and AIM is too much of a hassle to use here. but sometimes i get on it at home.

11SECSS is on here and he owns Performance Unlimited II in Newport News.
I work at Langley and live in Gloucester, we have a few F-bodies up here. Closer to the tracks than you Norfolk guys!
I've had more of a problem hooking at VMP than Richmond. I don't like how Richmond runs street/strip though, you get two time trials, then you wait 4-5 hours while they run top ET and modified. VMP is a top notch facility, but always seems a little slippery to me, but then again i have usually ran there with a boat load of Imports driving through the water. Ricers love VMP...Maryland is damn nice, 100 miles for me, so I normally go to MIR.
Welcome to the area, check out Eastern F-body and my streetsleepers, page, both are linked in my sig! Look forward to meeting you at the tracks. I've got a truck and trailer if you ever break!

VMP (1/4 mile)is going back to the NHRA sanction this year and has to do some upgrades which include a new track surface and more paved parking. It's a very nice facility with a track altitude of 180' and a 1/2 mile shutdown area.
As far as how it hooks goes......just stay away from the street nights. I cut my best 60' there last year (1.31 off the footbrake) at the Ram Racing Naturally Aspirated Racing series event they had there. It's about 93 miles from my house on the Peninsula.
MIR (1/4 mile)is another great track that I personally prefer to go too. Track altitude of 80' is a plus. They're adding more paved parking there also. The track is known as a good hooking track.....but as always stay away from street nights. It's about 120 miles from the Peninsula.
Richmond Dragway (1/4 mile) is a dump with a very short shutdown. I wouldn't reccomend that track personnally...like I said I think it's a dump :barf:
Anyway hope to meet some of you guys at the tracks this year. Feel free to drop by my pit area and say high. I have a white 01 Firehawk with Bogarts.

TJ - how come i havent met you before? i was at VMP almost every weekend last season, and went to MIR a few times too. Id like to check out the Hawk sometime. will you be at VMP on Mar. 11th? pm me or something next time you head up there and maybe ill tag along.
but i do agree about Richmond. i hated that track. short shutdown, and alot of rocks down there too. and its just ghetto if you ask me.
MIR was the best so far. i could only muster a 2.3 60ft on street tires at VMP and Richmond, but at MIR i got a 1.8. so the track is well prepped at MIR.

haha. when i say street tires i mean 275 Fuzions.lol. if i can cut 1.8's on those with me slipping the clutch at 3500, i think you can cut 1.2's atleast with a sick launch on those ET streets.

Quite a large group yeah, but it seems very few and far between that everyone can get together. Try to avoid the late night fri/sat spots because they're ticket traps just waiting to happen. There's another site hrfbody.com dedicated to well, hampton roads f-bodies. My name's Justin. I'll lend ya' a hand on the move on. My ship's in the drydock so I don't have to worry about goin' out to sea.
