Default How much HP can a stock 4l60e handle?

I have an 02' Camaro ss A4 with bolt ons, but a stock tc + I'm spraying a 175 shot. For how long will my tc or tranny last?

I would say not much over 400. I don't think yours will last very long with that size shot. Change the fluid often, get a shift kit and pray a whole lot. You never know though.

Wet or Dry.?? get a tune if you are spraying that much. And is it from a DIG? all 3 play factoers in how long it will last and how often do you spray it. PPl in this site spray 150 with bolt ons on stock trans and still holding up fine.

My trans started to bounce the limiter before shifting into 3rd with a cam, bolt ons, and a 150 dry. I would say the max a stock trans will take is around 425-450hp, and even then it might not last very long.

Don't spray through the shifts and it will help it last. I'm still on my stock tranny, running a 225 shot. The car has been sprayed hard for more than 4 years.

As you can see by the replys, you will want to use a "window" switch. This will always help, as to keeping the 2-4 band & 3-4 clutches alive. Without this, the realistic limit is about 450-475HP, there are always exceptions to this, but this is a good rule to follow from experience.

What if you just added a Vaccum Modulator to a stock tranny will it make it last longer? Or just shift faster with the same ending result?

The vacuum modualtor should help some, especially the 2-3 shift at WOT. But more is needed than just the vacuum modulator. You will need to increase the volume of feed oil to 2nd & 3rd gear. This can only be done by modifying the valve body plate. I would add the larger boost valve from Trans-Go, as this will improve oil pressure & volume.

I'm talking to a tuner (NRP) in Las Vegas and he said that he has done tuning to have a 4L60E handle 600 hp. Hope he's right, I'll be between 475 and 500 into a 4L60E.

When I upped to boost and ended with 500+rwhp, the tranny died within a month.

What does your car weigh? Im thinking I might be able to make the 4l60e live with this light of a car.

the key to making it live betond the normal mods that are made is to take rotating speed out of the trans.this is only acccomplished by replacing the front planetary gearset with a custom one yielding a 2.66 first gear ratio.there only one place doing it and its us.i am currently signing up as a sponsor and will put links to the stuff as soon as the signing up is done so no one gets angry.if your unsure about my tech go back and read some of my posts
