stock T56 ive got mods coming up soon for my 96 SS and i wasent really sure how much hp/tq my stock T56 could handle, also i have another quesion for anybody who might have an idea what this is, in first gear im gettin a minor grinding noise, ive heard this noise before in friends t/a's and Z28'S but i was just wondering what it could be, but more importantly how much a stock T56 can take with around 125k on it

Sounds like the sound you are describing is synchronizers. I think those trannies are rated for 450 ft lbs torque. However, if you've got synchros going out then I would look at fixing that.
