Multimedia Exchange - Photoshop Question

I'm new to photoshop. I just got the program. I know how to use the general things. How do you perfectly copy something? I would use the Lasso tool and draw out what I want. It's never a perfect outline. I hope I explained it good enough.

Use the Pen tool, it is used to make points...Start a point then click another area you are tracing and hold and drag (so on and so on)..it should help make perfect outlines, but it will take some time.
