Default people with the GM846 cam chime in please!!!

hey was wondering about this cam in a a4 car? is this the biggest cam for a daily driver use? i was wanting to make a setup for horsepower range of 400-500 hp maybe more... if this is not a good cam to start with any ideas my cars a 94z a4 with some serious miles ( getting time for a rebuild ) was thinking port & polished stock heads, 1.6 rr, got a list going .... i would also like to know if this cam has a nice lope to it and any other info parts wise or cam wise.. please let me know thanks for any help.......

for 400-500 at the wheels, you'll need to go either with a power adder (nitrous, blower, turbo) or a very serious set of heads/cam. in my opinion, the 846 will not get you there...you're going to have to go with aftermarket heads, and a cam that is a lot bigger befor you can think about 400rwhp

lloyd is a very good choice....if you go with a set of his heads, just go ahead and get on of his packages....that's been a proven way to get serious horsepower and great ET's. with a stage two kit, you get rigth around 400, and still very streetable

it's the last 3 digits of a GM performance part number...a camshaft. it's the smaller version of the highly popular gm847. speaking of which, the 847 is a cam used in some 400rwhp applications.
