CHEAP '98 NBM T/A (A4) For Sale ARLINGTON
I am selling my 1998 Navy Blue Metallic A4 TransAm, as I am going overseas as a contracted civilian next month.
The car is basically stock, but w/ a lot of newer parts. The engine and transmission were replaced at about 74K miles, and it's around 88K now. The engine came out of a 2001 Vette w/ 5K miles on it. The transmission was bought on these boards from EAD Performance, and it had something like 16K miles. So the car itself has about 88K miles on it, but the engine/tranny are both practically new. It has a lid, cutout, and 3500 TCI torque-converter. It runs good after I fixed a problem I was having with the knock-sensor wire and the egr. That stuff was fixed at probably 76-78K miles. The Coil packs from a 98 don't mount right on the 01 valvecovers (because of the perameter vs. centerbolt difference in the years), so they were ziptied up. Doesn't look the best, but it does the job.
As far as cosmetics: It has an NBM fiberglass WS6 replica hood on it. It has slight fitment issues, but it isn't very noticeable. That, like the stall, lid, and tranny was purchased from these boards. The back bumper is a Firebird replacement which is colormatched perfectly. There are a couple dents on the car, and of course from scratches, which are both expected from a 1998 car.
As far as quirks, I'll fill you in on those too. I always hate buying a car and noticing something a month later... just one of those "weird" things that separate your car from the next. One of the headlight motor's gear has worn down. It still goes up and down, but makes a grinding noise when they go down as the teeth on the gears aren't catching. It's a very easy fix (all you have to do is turn the gear 180 degrees so it uses its "new" side), I just haven't had the time to do so. The vent on the driver's side is missing a couple of louvers. That's about $5 fix. There is also a single louver missing from the automatic shifter. Only noticeable in certain gears and another easy fix. The biggest and most costly one out of them is turning the car on. You have to put the key in, pull back towards you some, then turn to start. It's the one thing the car needs that is going to take some money. My guess would be $75 in parts and a couple hours in labor... might be more simple than that, however. I hear this was a common problem with GMs a few years ago, but I have never dealt with it before.
The car has new tires, and the stock rims can be upgraded to the chrome ones for $350 more.
I am selling this as I will be gone for two years, but plan to get a newer one when I get back
Sucks to part with it, but such is life. I just want to sell it quick, so I am going with a price of $8,000 firm. If you want to look at it, give me a call. I'll try and get some pictures a little later, but it is pretty much as described.
My name is Greg, and I can be reached at (817) 846-3714 pretty much any time of the day.
EDIT: Just remembered a couple of more things: One of the foglights needs a new bulb (I'll probably fix this in the meantime), and the Air Conditioning isn't hooked up. After I put the new motor in, I didn't hook it back up. I have it, with all the parts, however.

Here are the other pictures requested. The rain had just come in, so they don't look the best:

bump for an honest man... and a great price!... i just picked up my 98 formula for 8K... and it has it's quirks ... and i repeatedly asked the previous owner of anything that might need to be replaced.. and he just said a door lock... then after the first day of driving it... i noticed a few things missing like a piece of the headlight... broken fog light, worn out clutch...
i hope you get what you want for it... good luck

Pictues should be ready later tonight (once I find a USB cable to hook up to my camera).
Thanks for the help, Saad!

Sorry man
The only reason I am getting rid of this car is because I will be out of country for two years, so it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to trade for another. I do, however, appreciate your offer and interest.

Had a lot of people calling, but none seem to be able to come up with the money before I leave next Sunday. First one takes it.
Also, if I don't answer your call, just call again another time. My phone is weird and doesn't always show missed calls. Thanks!
