Default Should I replace my water pump?

I have the Vette apart doing a Heads/Cam swap, and I obviously have the water pump off. The pump on my SS started leaking at 45K, and the Vette JUST hit 30K before I put it away for the winter. Should I replace it since its off and it is a SERIOUS pain in the *** to replace on a C5 compared to an F-body once the car is back together?

Mine has almost 70K and I considered putting it back in, but hell even if it lasts another 30K I'd rather be safe than have to rip it out again. Just do it.

I'd say the one from your Camaro is a freak for going out at 45k! My 98 pump has 114k on it. I would not replace it untill it looked like ole faithfull.

This is completly relative however considering how much stuff i work on and how much i enjoy working on it. Also relative to the fact i'm a poor college kid who's broker than the 10 commandments.

The pump on my 2000 Z28 locked up at 80K, made a mess and took out a fairly new Gatorback belt. I would just replace it while everything is apart.

My stock water pump died on my 2002 Firehawk @ 40k miles. After that I went on my polishing spree and polished a replacement.

Id buy a new one from Napa. They cost $140 and are the same OE manufacturer. Might as well if you can pop for that amount.

MOST waterpumps don't actually leak on the LS motors it is the gaskets that go out. may gaskets were leaking at 45k when I parked mine this winter. But I only replaces all of mine cause I have GMPP extended warrenty and I work at a dealership so I just got the parts for free
