Supercharging a High-compression Motor.
Thinking of supercharging the TA ... only problems are the rings are set for a medium-big shot of nitrous AND the motor I believe is around 11.1-11.2+ compression ... heads were milled 60cc and GM MLS gaskets used. I can't take the compression down any more. Am I just stuck with still doing the original plan ... 200-shot direct port?

you can put boost in a high CR motor but you will have to use race gas... thats the reason everyone likes low CR is so they can use pump gas.

Easiest would be get 72cc heads.i see u have AFR 205's....if your dead set on boost sell the heads and they should more than pay for a decent set of 6.0ltr heads.Thatll drop u down to about 10.5-10.8CR.Use an intercooler and meth racegas and you could get away with probably 8psi or maybe a tad more.If its build for a 200shot why not stick with that?

Either put the 200 shot on it or swap heads.
60 to 72cc will get a full point of compression drop. 9-10psi at stock compression with forged pistons is no problem at all with a decent intercooler. Add some meth or good gas at the track and 15psi is doable at 10:1. Your cam will work OK with a blower as well.
Its way cheaper to do the nitrous...

Dang ... well, that's about what I thought. Maybe I'll go with nitrous after all ... since it would be so costly to change up at this point. I was thinking about getting hooked into filling bottles for eternity ... just wish I could do a S/C, but, I should have thought more about before my motor was built/forged.
A S/C with a lil 100 shot to cool it down would be nice. Thanks for the replies and I'm open to any other suggestions, though I think my question has been answered effectively. I guess TT's would be out of the question, as well.

Supercharging is a lot of fun, I would be broke if I had to fill bottles LOL.
My car made 295rwhp with the TH400/9" with no blower, 590 with the blower - thats like a big ole' nitrous hit there lol. Nitrous will only get you so far with whatever cam/heads/displacement you use but a blower/turbo is the gift that keeps on giving

Or you can just push 5-6psi + 100 shot of Nitrous on your current setup. I have seen cars with 11.1 C/R running 6-7psi with no problems. I think 5-6psi with your current C/R would be fine + 100 shot of Nitrous should put u over 600rwhp easy. The point of doing this is having 5-6psi pushing you around all the time. Im sure 5-6psi from a D-1SC would put u around 500rwhp with that C/R.

i've thought about this also....
but my 408 was pretty much built for NA and n20... but it will run on race gas anyways...
it will have forged flat top pistons and rings to withstand a 500 shot...
it will currently be at a 11 :1.... will those pistons take boost or do they have to be built specific for boost?
im talking a max of 15psi..

What size injectors will handle that much Nitrous at one time? I know guy here in Florida who has a wet dual stage 250 ... don't know if it's DP ot not, though. He hit second stage and immediately burned a piston and I would guesstimate it melted portions of his internals pretty bad. He doesn't even use his nitrous after all the money it cost him for a rebuild. That ws on a forged motor. But, he certainly does have bragging rights of the baddest *** setup here locally in my town. The more I hear/read about nitrous, tmy only safest bet is a 100 wet kit with all the safety features. If it hiccups, the forged internals should be able to get away with that small a shot, but, nothing bigger. Just another reason I'm thinking S/C or TT's.
