Default Looks like I知 a drill mod candidate

My 98 Z28 Conv seems to have lots of the usual clutch symptoms, but being a relative newbie, I知 not sure how many repairs/mods I need to do to remedy. I知 not a racer so I don稚 need the big buck racing parts, but I do want the car to operate normally and be fun and reliable.

Here痴 my symptoms:

Clutch sticks to the floor on WOT shifts: I rarely do this but I致e noticed the symptom when I have

Low Pedal: Clutch engages very low. It痴 possible that it doesn稚 even completely disengage on full pedal.

Grinding shifts: Usually 5th gear but it does it in others sometimes unless I shift REALLY slow and or double/clutch. I知 assuming the low pedal is part of this since the trans never gets to slow down between shifts.

VERY stiff shifting when cold: Sometimes I can稚 even get the car into reverse to get it out of the garage. I usually have to run it through a bunch of other gears first to get it loosened up.

The car has 60kmi and there痴 no sign of clutch slipping, even at high power in high gears. I知 hoping that keeps me from needing a new clutch (for now). However, it looks like I need to at least look at the drill mod. Should I also do the Master Cylinder? What role does the Slave Cylinder play in my problems? If I need a slave I suppose I go all the way and get a new clutch too.

Thoughts/advice?

Sounds like your hydraulics need to be updated. Might as well do a clutch since its open.

Before you opt for new hydraulics, which you might very well be due for, try flushing your old fluid and bleeding after you do the drill mod. The drill mod should fix the sticking clutch at high rpms, and the new fluid/bleeding should help with the low engagement point. If after doing these three things you still have similar symptoms, then it's probably time for updated hydraulics.
