So Im on my way home from the gym with my brother and after just dropping a buddy off, I come to a light. I slow down and stop, and as im sitting there I look in my rear view mirror and see headlights that look like those of a mustang. Sure enough, it was a mach 1. As he comes rolling past me to a stop, he revs his engine at me. So my brother looks over at me and says, "f*ck that guy". So Im a car behind him in the next lane, he hears me rev mine, revs back again as if to acknowlege Im there and wanna race. I get around a couple cars, catch up to him, and we both get side by side. He slows down about 10 mph and proceeds to do a fly by. I waited til he got next to me then nailed it. He passed me with his lil fly by and had 1/2 a car on me. I quickly reeled him in, went to fourth and proceeded to see him lose more and more ground. I let off and just start cruisin again, and up comes the next light. He gets up next to me at the light, rolls his window down and says, "that a auto with a stall?" I told him no, its a 6 spd. He looked kinda baffled that it was a m6 for some reason  . Then he says, "you got a cut out? that thing is loud as f*ck." I was like nah man, just longtubes, 3" ory and 3" exhaust, no cats and no mufflers. Just as he finishes telling me what he had done, the light turned green and were rolled out and from 5 mph off we went again. This was not a wise decision, I just got new tires and they hooked up great, by the time I was going into 3rd, I had about a car, car and a 1/2 on him, I missed 3rd :bang: on him and he didnt catch even with me until I waited a second and put it back in and then again I proceeded to pull away even further. We continue on our way and he comes up for some more, does another fly by, this time I started early as I saw him doing his fly by and pulled hard again leaving him behind once again. Finally when we got out to the main highway, I went by to see if he wanted to really open it up and go, he didnt even try. But as I turned off to go home, he honked and gave thumbs up so I returned the gesture. His mods were intake, full exhaust and gears. Im thinkin he had 4.10's cuz he was shiftin pretty damn quick. I was very happy with my cars performance :) , especially with another person in the car. I just put Proxes on about 2 weeks ago. They are an awesome tire. Sorry for the novel, just thought I'd share with everyone. God bless the LS1

Yea it was a good race. The driver was really cool. He wasnt a dick like this old man driving around here in an 05 GT. He always looks over at me and laughs, then brushes his shoulders off. That was the first mach 1 I've raced. It was a quick car and pulled hard, but not hard enough. All in all, it was a good race.

I met some cockbag at the gym the other day with an S281, acted too good to even tell me about the car, snooty as shit. GOOD KILL ON SOMEONE WHO WAS ACTUALLY NOT A TOOL!!! could I take that S281? (it was the supercharged) what do they run? BTW, those mach's w/gears are fast, awesome kill. You have a strong LS1

Stanger88, from reading the mods you have done to your 5.0, you should rape an S281. There is one at the track down here running 8.9's all day. Granted I dont know the guy or how good he is at driving, but his shifts seem to be fine and he gets decent launches. That is obviously in the 1/8th mile, as for the 1/4, Im not sure. 5.0's are strong motors, any car guys knows that. My money would be on you. Kick his ass! :judge:

Good kill atleast there are some other decent stang owners around, i beat a mach 1 on the highway in our TA stock lol the guy was cool though said he wanted to go from a dig sometime. Although i don't think that would be a wise decision for him now

I would say that would be a close race since it is supercharged would depend on the driver but then again i don't really know crap about the saleens overpriced mustang if you ask me. Reminds me of this black dude that was running around here in a 99-02 saleen s281 N/A not even charged. Man he was talking crap, pulled up in the parking lot and called everyone out was like "NIGGA i be takin pinks all night who wants to run em" hanging out his window and his fellow passanger throwing what looked to be rival gang signs at a non-gang group of ppl., then he ran off. Everyone wanted me to chase him down I just happened to have the ol' 5.0 out and had my blue companion riding in the back with me  . I decided not to give chase i let it go for a min. and kept my eyes open for this guy going down the road again, we all decided to roll out to cruise. I'm in the back of the pack pulling out of the lot and ohhhhhhhh look who it is it's the idiot that's been takin pinks all night :jest: , everyone in the group ahead kinda moved out of the way and i got up next to this guy. I gave him a heathly rev to which he didn't respond, i armed the spray and blasted the pedal a few times to show i wanted some and i would gladly hand out an ass beating. He quickly exited the highway :eyes: if your gonna talk shit atleast back it up. Seems like the saleen drivers are all like this atleast the ones i've ran into and really the cars suck so i dunno why they act like that.

Good Kill. Glad to see everybody was cool.

My Mach 1 actually slowed down .3/10ths in the quarter after I added a CAI and x-pipe. I had to re-install the screen in the MAF and purchased a tuner in order for my car to run better.

Grey03, you lost power? How come? Ive been thinking and still am deciding about putting 4.10's in. Im just afraid im gonna lose alot up top.

Dude don't worry about loosing alot up top, you have an M6 which equals double overdrive. You won't sacrifice much top end i wouldn't assume nor gas mileage on the highway. If i'm wrong someone please correct me, but this is what i've been told, due to myself saying the same thing. At first the thought of 4.10s scared me in a street car but after it was explained it doesn't seem as if it would be a problem at all.

I'm not sure if I lost power but I definitely slowed down. I think adding the x-pipe and CAI raised my shift points. Before I shifted at 6500,6300,6000 in the 1/4 mile for better ET's. Since mods I shift 6800,6500,6500 to keep the car in its power curve after shifts. My pedal was spongy after the x-pipe,CAI install but it felt stronger up top. After getting a tune, everything smoothed out and it felt stronger than ever. I think the factory tune limits what your car can do. Once it's modified to adjust a/f and timing, the car responds much better to the bolt ons.
As for 4.10's, I love em. My only regret is 4.10's with nitrous. 1st gear is nearly impossible to hook without breaking them loose. I went from a 13.2 @ 105mph to 12.9 @ 106 mpg after the gear swap. My 60' dropped from 1.996 to 1.795. Having a 5 speed instead of 6 speed also effects my MPG more than it would for you.

Stanger88 if you are losing to modded ls1's, I think you will do fine against that S281. If he is modded, I dont know what to tell ya. But just remember that you have a 5.0, a very easy motor to make power with. So even if he would/does beat you if you ever get a chance to race him, you have the potential to very easily beat him. And thanks for the input grey03. That eased with my indecision on the 4.10's.
