Default Help with starting / clutch!

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place, I think it is, but if not, please move it. Thank you.

I have a 99 t/a. When I got the car there was a problem with it starting, when you would push the clutch in to the floor, and turn the key, it wouldn't start. It would act like the clutch wasn't pushed in. If you backed the clutch pedal out a few inches, it would start fine... A few days ago, the car almost left me stranded so I can't really trust it anymore to drive untill its fixed... I was thinking there might be some sort of a solenoid inside the bay that would tell the car when the clutch was pressed down, and maybe its going bad. Or in the worst case, there is an actual linkage IN the tranny thats telling it... I hope someone can shed some light on this.. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it. 'Carl

There's a clutch safety switch located under the dash. Poke your head in there and you'll see it at the top of the clutch pedal linkage. It's probably bad.
