Question LT1 Questions

I have a 1994 Firebird Formula with almost 40k miles on it. I have a few problems with it. It revs up from 400 or 500 rpms to almost 1000 when I'm in drive at a stop (automatic transmission). I was told it was clogged fuel injectors, but this can be a problem. Like today was seatbelt checkpoint day at my high school. I stopped for the cop and thirty seconds later the car lurched forwards and almost took his door off. This isn't good to do to cops in a Firebird. Does anyone have any ideas what makes it do this?

I have also noticed after I get on it and race around a little bit it stutters on quick starts and wants to cut out. It takes a few days to get back to normal. When I first bought it it missed a lot and now it only does under some conditions. I had my water pump and distributer cap replaced a few months ago.

I noticed yesterday that the there seems to be an open hole in my intake. In between the air filter and MAF there is a tune sticking out with nothing attached to it. I can poke the MAF with a pencil on the inside. It looks like a hose used to go there. This is the stock piece as far as I know. In any picture I can find on the internet the fuel line is always on top of this part. I put a piece of paper over it and it definatley was taking in some air here. I put duct tape on it for the time being. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a vacuum leak... Are you throwing any codes?

I'm gonna check codes in a week or two hopefully.......a vacuum leak like a dry rotted hose on the throttle body? Anyone with an LT1 know why the spout on my intake is there without anything attatched to it?

The spout on the intake that you speak of might be for the opti drain line from 95+ cars. Maybe someone swapped in intake parts from a 95+ and never bothered to plug that connector.

Dry nitrous set-up. Check plugs - may be colder plugs for nitrous that are fouled by now. Could explain a few things.
Obvious vaccum leak - not as critical as behind the MAF.
Possible relocate of IAT - but why switch it back - doubt this is it.

Check for vacuum leaks. Look for vacuum leaks by the intake manifold and TB area.
