Default Custom fab intake manifolds? good/bad choice?

Im getting ready to do a 383 motor and i was debating what to do about intake manifold. I know the FAST 90/90 has proven itself.I was also looking into the custom sheet metal intakes. Give me some suggestions.

i think teh sheet metal would trap to much heat. And if your going to spray that motor you dont want that. just my .02

the sheet metal ones are ususally race only, they generate best power at crazy high rpm, the fast intake is your best bet

I am assuming that this engine will go into the truck in your sig. If so have you looked at the edelbrock victor jr ($400 w/ rails) or GMPP intake (needs custom rails and machining). These should make great power, can be ported and you should have tons of room under your hood!
Its a lot cheaper then a sheet metal intake too.

how do the two flo in compairason to eachother...

...i remember popular hotrodding did an article on a 1200hp ls1, they used the GMPP intake but they did some serious macining(adding bosses for injectors, porting, media blasting, etc.) does anyone know if you can port the victor jr.?

From what I've heard the victor jr has thinner walls then the GMPP intake. Both can be ported, but more can be taken from the GMPP runners. For a 383 I don't think it would really be an issue, especially if you factor in price. The GMPP is made for a carb, so needs to be drilled/welded for injectors and custom fuel rail. That manifold alone is close to $400.
The victor jr comes w/rails, no machining required-399.99 from summit racing.
(they are on back order until 3/15!!!!!!)

Are you putting it on the motor in your sig? If so are you just bolting it on or porting it?
I can't wait to see some real numbers from that manifold. I believe it can top the
90/90 setup

I know I will get crap for saying that!
