I am going to be installing my 9" in the next few weeks what oil should i use. It has a locker and i would like to make it as quiet as possible. I'm not to concerned about hp. Is it ok to leave the oil that i break it in with in there or do i have to change it out after so many miles.

I'd go with a NON synthetic 75-90. After break in during warm weather only you could probably go with a 75 or 85-140.
I can guarantee you'll love having a 9" under the ass end. I love mine. :)
We use 80w90 non synthetic, no need to change it after break in. Bob

I have used like 85/140 or something like that. Takes 1.5-2 qts.

I just also installed my moser 9in. On the instructions it says to fill it up with approximately 4 quarts of oil. Isnt that a little to much!

I usually put in 3 80W-90 Wolf's Head or Kendal.
