No. You have to replace the computer and all of the harnesses.

not to mention the k-member, bellhousing, ect. better off just buying the ls1 fbod or modding your lt1.

Yep, the only reason I can see putting an LS1 into an LT1 F-Body is if your LT1 is trashed, really trashed. And you can find an LS1 and all the parts cheap. Otherwise, the guys are right... spend the money you would spend on an LS1, and mod your car. Or buy an LS1 car.

Totally agree. LS1s can also be had for cheap now a days.

with the right parts, and the right knowhow, you can make a LT1 just as fast as a LS1. there is a LT4 conversion kit for them that brings it up to 425HP.

Seriously, if you are that infatuated with the ls1 motor, then here is what you do, go and buy a car with an ls1 motor in it already instead of yanking out your lt1 and replacing it with something that will only give you a marginal performance increase. Its really not worth the money when you can build your lt1 motor the be as fast as any ls1 out there. You just gotta know what parts to buy when you decide to mod your car.

Those are def not the right parts. The LT4 kit lacks results, is very expensive, and is no substitute for other heads and a propely matched cam, that will cost no where near the LT4 Kit.

Check out EB Porting. Llyod Elliot does great work, is highly regarded in the F Body community and is very reasonable in pricing.

for more info on the pro and cons of the LT1 to LS1 swap you could search this forum. I know there's about a 5 page thread on this topic for about a week ago.

That is why I jumped in and tried to steer away from that guys info.

I can't stand the LT4 conversion thing anymore, it has really gotten old. I was at a party awhile back just trying to socialize and drink some beer and some bonehead would not leave me alone why I don't have the LT4 conversion on my car I tried explaining how it is not a good option so on and so forth but he wouldn't accept it. The LT4 conversion is a huge ricer myth.

Me and a freind did his 96 6 banger Firebird to an LS1, Motor mounts, tranny to match, new 98+ rack and pinion, steering shaft, K-member, tranny cross member. and the list goes on. If you really want to do this, F-body motorsports and Street and Performance are the gurus at this.

Well if your wanting to do an iron block LS1 then I believe the swap will be worth it as long as your going big inch. But if your just going straight LS1 then doing h/c or bolt ons just sell the LT1 and by LS1. I do like the idea of an 6.0L in an LT1 body but I am a freakin squirrel.
