i've gone to 'bout where you are. when I can take a normal turn and I spin bad on low accel. then its time to change. But I keep my good tires in the front. Need to be able to turn/handle in the 1st place.

I've gone that far, maybe a little further. But having a blowout would probably cause more $$ in damage than buying a couple of new tires. Acutally now that I think about it, I haven't replaced tires since 1998. I buy a new vehilce, put some rims on it, and when those tires wear out, I trade the vehicle in. I gotta quit doing that

Mine are a bit more bald than yours. They almost look like mini slicks but don't grip like'em . I'm just waiting on some $$ so when I start driving it in the spring I can afford a new set of rims and tires. Luckily I dont have to drive it in the winter.

I was waiting till I could widen my rear Firehawk rims to 11 inches. Somebody gave me two tires for free with 50% tread that I'll burn down over the spring. Then I'll have the wide rims and spring for rubber all around.

I just replaced my tires that had the cords showing on all four tires. I'm surprised none of them blew out on me.

Haha, I got you guys beat, I ran a 245/40/18 runflat until the wires popped out, and then a few days later the tire SPLIT but it support itself enough to get home. I know it wasn't safe, but I couldn't afford new tires at the time and I was only doing local sub 40mph driving at the time.

These are the same ones we were blazing through the mountains with. That's why I wasn't pushing the limits too much on the tight turns.

I'm not getting different wheels, I'm just having chrome Firehawk rears widened from 9 to 11 inches.
